The “Hong Kong Journal of Paediatrics” is the official publication jointly of the HK College of Paediatricians, which is a statutory organisation for post-graduate education and the HK Paediatric Society, a fraternity organisation for local child-care workers. The readership comprises of both paediatricians and other child-health practitioners.
Besides serving as a forum for dissemination of scientific and professional information for the paediatric practitioners like any other publications, our journal puts more emphasis on issues which are uniquely Chinese or of local relevance.
The Journal has established a “Post-graduate column” to encourage contributions form trainee-paediatricians. There is an “MCQs” section to encourage careful reading of the articles in the current issue to promote CME. There is also a small section on “Spot Diagnosis” which is well-received. Apart form local workers, many prominent visiting scholars from overseas have contributed articles to the Journal. Most overseas papers are review articles on important topics, which have helped to enhance the educational value of the Journal.
All abstracts of published papers are retrievable from the Internet; subscribers to our journal have access to all full texts also. Our content pages appear in the Chinese Pediatric Journal and the Journal of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism reciprocating theirs. Our Journal is striving to be included into the Index Medicus to attract more original research papers. Our contents are accessible on http://www.fmshk.com.hk/hkcpaed.
