文本框: A Profile: Journal of Clinical Pediatrics Xiaoming Shen，Chief Editor, Shanghai Xinhua Children's Hospital Shanghai Second Medical University, Shanghai 200092, China As a main academic publication in the pediatric world in China, Journal of Clinical Pediatrics was founded in 1983 and was the first local but nationally circulating pediatric journal then. It had been maintained for many years as the sole domestic pediatric journal except Chinese Journal of Pediatrics. Now the journal has its 19th volumes and its circulation of 20,000 in the year of 2001. The journal is jointly sponsored by Shanghai Research Institute for Pediatrics and Xinhua Hospital of Shanghai Second Medical University and has the editorial board made up with about 160 veteran and famous researchers and clinicians in pediatrics over the country. Oriented by its principals of being geared to the needs of clinical practice, needs of whole country and needs of grass–root care institutions, the journal follows the way of reflecting the general academic levels as well as trends of scientific development in pediatrics aiming at upgrading and generalizing pediatric knowledge. Two special systemic disease-based columns which may include one of the following subjects: pulmonology, gestroenterology, neurology, hematology, cardiology, nephrology, genetics, metabolism and endocrinology, in each issue compile the originals with both clinical review and laboratory tests. More than ten other subjected columns appear in each issue with the selected different topics such as comprehensive clinical investigations and reviews, child health, in-laboratory research work, clinical roundtables for rare cases, peer review, clinical pharmacology and the introduction of newly advanced technology. The main originals always are accompanied by the detailed English abstract and English contents also. Journal of Clinical Pediatrics are widely subscribed and obtained by the pediatricians, general practitioners and medical graduates and postgraduates as their educational-aids all over the country as the journal exerts its own practical and academic styles which is being pursued still. The main subscription (more than 80%) comes from the outside area of Shanghai—the location of the journal. It has been continuously selected as one of the core journal within the category of clinical medicine and biomedicine since 1990s and it is ranked in the cited (statistics) source of science and technology papers of Chinese journals in 2001 by the National Ministry of Science and Technology.
