The Chinese Journal of Contemporary Pediatrics, established in 1999, is a fresh and domestic pediatric journal. The editorial board consists of 80 specialists in the fields of pediatrics and other medical subspecialties, including those from China, North America and Singapore. They are distinguished and devoted scholars and contribute greatly to the increasing popularity of the journal. The Journal covers the latest progress in both clinical practice and basic research areas of pediatrics. Each year about 1100 manuscripts are submitted and about 22% accepted. The number of manuscripts received is increasing, and papers from outside of China (e.g. US) are also received. The Journal publishes 220 papers a year, including original articles, clinical experience, child heath care, pediatric surgery, review, etc. The median time from submission to publication is about 8 months. Efforts are made to shorten the review period by introducing electronic communication through internet between the editorial office and the reviewers. In order to make pediatricians and researchers in the world understand the Journal papers, English information in the Journal has been enhanced. In each issue English contents are provided along with English abstracts for the original articles in Chinese. The English is checked by experts to ensure the accuracy. Selected original articles or reviews are published in both Chinese and English at the same time. The Journal was collected at the end of 2000 by AJ published in Russia, one of the internationally retrieval institutions. It was also ranked in the cited (statistics) source of scientific and technological papers of Chinese journals in 2000, less than 2 years of its foundation, by the National Ministry of Science and Technology. It shows that the Journal has become a core journal in the field of pediatrics in China.
