The severe course and unfavourable outcome of the acute respiratory diseases are often associated with development of the toxic encephalopathy (neurotixcosis) due to dominating hypoxic brain damages and, as our investigations showed, low immunologic reactivity in young children. In this connection the search of new highly effective pathogenically based method of correction of these states is actual and necessary. For this purpose we used the drug instenon in the complex treatment of 51 young children with toxic encephalopathy. Our choice was explained by favourable combination of vasoactive and neurotrophic grugs being capable to effect under the condition of hypoxia. Instenon was used in dose 15-20 mg a day additionally to etophilline. The agent was administered intravenously or via dropper with 5%glucose sollution two times. The investigations performed showed that in children receiving instenon the vital functions (breathing, circulation, nervous system) had been stabilized and restored faster. The efficacy of the grug instenon was confirmed by data of encephalography, echo-encephalography, as well as by immunologic investigations. Thus, there was noted reliable improvement of immunologic indicators; CD3 - 55,0+_3,8; CD4 - 36,0+_2,6; CD8 - 17,0+_1,6; CD16 - 14,0+_0,8; CD22 - 10,7+_0,8; ASLbrain 2,3+_0,6; ASL cor -3,2+_0,4; ASLpulm - 4,2+_0,4. Before treatment these parameters were 47,0+_3,6; 43,4+_2,5; 15,6+_3,5; 17,0+_2,8; 0,19+_0.9; ASLbrain 4,5+_0,4; ASLcor 5,3+_0,6 and ASL pulm 5,0+_0,5, respectively. On the basis of results obtained it may be concluded about favourable perspective for use of instenon in the treatment of toxic encephalopathy.
