Text Box: EXPERIENCES GAINED FROM THE MEETINGS WITH OPEN FAMILY GROUPS

Objective: In order to be able to extend assistance demanded by numerous children and/or parents we have established first common contact through the work with open group of children and parents.
Material and Method: This open group was represented by children and parents who wanted to improve their development, children and parents with development risk, and those children with disturbed development and their parents - who bring them up. The method of work which was applied as the most appropriate one in the given circumstances is psycho-dynamic guidance with the gatherings organized once a week in duration of one and half hour, after which, individual and/or gamily appointments were made with psychotherapists.
Results: After six months work of the open group, in eighteen gatherings with 255 participants, we obtained the unanimous positive answers as the results of their questioning about need and usefulness of these gatherings.
Conclusion: Based on immediate experience and full attention and concentration of all participants as well as results of questioning on the need and usefulness of the open group work it may be concluded that working with open group of children and parents turned out to be a good supplementary aid and support to both the children and parents.
