Objective: To evaluate the effect of Navoban in the prevention of cancer-chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting in children.
Methods: A randomized crossover trial was performed. 60 children received chemotherapy was randomly divided into two groups. Group A included 30 cases treated with navoban. Group B consisted of 30 cases treated with paspertin plus dexamethasone. The number of vomiting episodes and severity of nausea in the first 24 hours (acute vomiting/nausea) and that occurring in the following 5 days (delayed vomiting/nausea) were studied.
Results: The effective rate of navoban was 93.3%, and paspertin plus dexamethasone 56.6% (P<0.05).
Conclusion: Navoban is effective in controlling emesis induced by chemotherapy in children, and it is superior to paspertin plus dexamethasone.
