1076 children with chronic nonspecific lung disease 945
case (87.8%) of bronchiectasia, 53 cases (4.9%) of cystous pulmonary
hypoplasia, 41 children (3.8%) with simple pulmonary hypoplasia, 17 cases
(1.6%) of pulmonary polycystosis and 12 children (1.1%) with mucoviscidosis
were revealed. Single cases of pulmonary sequestration, Zivert-Cartagener’s
and Webb’s syndromes were also diagnosed 481 children (44.7%) were
operated, including 418 (86,9%) bronchiectatic patient, 31 patient (6.4%)
with cystous pulmonary hypoplasia, 10 children (2.1%) with pulmonary polycystosis
and one child with mucoviscidosis. Lobectomy (194 cases- 40.3%) and
lobectomy with segmental resection (83 cases- 17.3%) were the most common
types of surgery. If ventilation and blood flow in lung tissue had been
kept, the new method of surgical treatment - extirpation of the damaged
bronchi (59 cases -12.3%) was carried out. Pneumonectomy was made in two
children (0.4%).
