Objective: To evaluate the treatment of relieving the pains induced by transfusion of FDP.

Methods: 20 children were transfused by FDP. Periods of treatment lasted for 10 days. Children whose pains were evaluated in the first two days were regarded as the control group. In later three days the children treated with wet fomentation were regarded as the fomentation group. If the treatment of wet fomentation was ineffective, the children were treated with surface anesthesia and regarded as the surface anesthesia group.

Results: After Pearson X2 test, the effect of surface anesthesia group is significantly different compared with that of the fomentation group (P<0.05).

Conclusion: The treatment of both wet fomentation and surface anesthesia can relieve the pains induced by transfusion of FDP, but that of surface anesthesia is more effective than wet fomentation.
