Results: IMR were reduced from 12.42 to 6.84 and FIMR were reduced from 19.43 to 15.79 in 1992 to 2000.IMR and FIMR were showed decreasing trend significantly in three period of 19921994,19951997,19982001(p<0.01),but the decreasing rang of IMR was large(48%).IMR was higher in rural area than in city .Special rate of pnemonia was reduced in three period from 2.30 to 0.59 and the congenital heart disease was changed into the first reason of infant deaths.

Conclusion: The intervention measure practiced of reducing IMR were effective in Beijing in 19922000.We should devoted attention to FIMR and congenital heart disease further.
