KAP ANALYSIS OF BREAST FEEDING

Objective: Assessing the effectiveness of Baby Friendly Hospital lnitiative regarding Early Initiation & Exclusive Breast Feeding (BF) among university graduate mothers

Methods: Random sampling for 500 working mothers (N. Wo, M) & 500 non-working mothers (N. Wo. M). All have the university graduates.

·Self answering questionnaire was prepared by the team.

·Computerized data analysis.

Results: Early Initiation half to an hour 46% for Wo. M & 40.8% for N. Wo. M in the first day 86.4% Wo. M & 79.2 for N. Wo. M. By 2 nd & 3rdday B.F increased up to 98% for Wo. M & 95% for N. Wo. M.

·For exclusive BF 76.2% for Wo.M.64.6% for N. Wo. M breast fed exclusively for at least the first 3 months of infant's life.

Conclusion: Early Initiation of BF is very low compared to WHO recommendations, regarding Exclusive BF is reasonable & need to be encouraged through integration of BF program in PHC package of services to empower social mobilization & efficient service utilization.
