THE CLINICAL ANALYSES OF 26 CHILDREN WITH DIABETES KATOACIDOSISDKA

Objective: To study the clinical feature of children with diabetes katoacidosis(DKA).

Methods: To analyze 26 children with DKA in our hospital from Jun. 1995 to Feb. 2001.

Results: age: from 40 days to 13 years. 15/26 cases were apparently in good health and there were no any diabetes symptoms prior to admission. 26 cases all appear tachycardia and hyperpnea. 8/26 cases appear coma, 6 cases are babies among them. Blood glucose:<1 years old cases 25.83±13.84, >1 years old cases 24.11±10.24(p>0.05); CO2CP :<1 years old 6.86±1.22, >1 years old 8.87±4.0(P>0.05). Urine lab: glucose is positive in 20/26 cases, KET is positive in 26/26 cases.

Conclusion : Diabetes symptoms in children, especially babies, usually are not typical and children with diabetes often get DKA. The babies tend to get coma more frequently than other children.
