MANAGEMENT OF CHILDHOOD CONVULSIVE DISORDER

Convulsive
disease among children from very birth to adolescence are seen to be
problemtic almost throughout the world. The convulsion originate from the
deranged brain tissue which are prepared in the child after its conception
in mother's womb or subsequently due to other factors after birth. Some of
the still birth, 4 to 5% of the total still birth are thought to be due to
deranged brain tissue of the child. From the statistics it is seen that the
convulsion disorder are more in children in developing country than
developed countries. From the total population, 71-978/1,00,000 in India
and 400-1000/1,00,000 in the world are shown convulsive disorders.
Generally 5 % of the population felt convulsion in life. 1.2% cumulative
incidence of convulsion
are seen among children. In India it is estimated that among 5 convulsive
children, two children are due to hereditary (gene) or pregnancy infection
and two are associated with fever (febrile convulsion) and one child shown
convulsive symptoms due to effects of some diseases like head injury,
malaria, meningitis, diarrhoea etc.
