Objective: To investigate clinical characteristics of children with transient fever after seizure.

Methods: 28 children who were admitted to our unit from Aug, 1996 to Jan,,2001 were studied by retrospective analysis. 28 cases who were diagnosed epilepsy depending on clinical and EEG developed fever. The control group was the children with febrile seizure.

Results: After seizure, the temperature of 28 children(38.01±0.31) is higher(p<0.05) than that in control group(39.17±0.53).The period of high temperature about 28 cases(3.29±1.13h) significantly reduced (p<0.05) compared with that in control group(72.00±28.69h)

Conclusion: Seizure, especially tonic-clonic onset and complex partial seizure, can develop transient fever and the temperature was lower and duration was shorter than the febrile seizure.
