Objective: To
approach the chance of surgical treatment and the management of injured
valve in congential heart disease associated with infective endocarditis.
Methods: From
April 1992 to March 17 cases of congential heart disease associated with
infective endocarditis were studied retrospectively. A mean age is 5.0±1.2 years. To analysis the process of
surgical treatment and compare the pre-and post operative heart function.
Result: 16
cases were cured and 1 cases died because of right ventricular failure.
Heart function of 10 cases is II-IV grade before operation, but only 1 case
is II-IV grade after operation. The pre-and post operative heart function
improve apparently (P<0.05).
Conclusion:
It is necessary and effective that the children with congenital heart disease
associated with infective endocarditis receive operative intervention in
early period. Valve reconstruction is suitable in children.
