RAPID INDUSTRIALIZATION RESULTED IN RAPID SOCIO-ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGES AND DETERIORATED HOME EDUCATION

Objective: Industrialization for the last 30 years in South Korea produced many harmful effects, among which appearance of abnormal adolescents caused by deteriorated home education must be first in order, The author wanted to know the behavior and value judgment of Korean adolescents produced by poor home education.

Methods: ①The author review national statistics to know how Korean society changed so fast in recent years; ② the author investigated adolescent behavior and value judgment by comparing student group and juvenile delinquent and value judgment by comparing student group and juvenile delinquent group; ③by comparing the misdeeds of boys and girls in middle and high school by inquiring questionnaire including 27 items of misdeeds .The collected data were analyzed with the extent of delinquency in each group by using SPSS/PC+ statistical package.

Results: farmers large families are broken down to nuclear families which are increased up to 82% in 1995. Home education became poor because of over-protection to the siblings and decreased family members to set a model to the youngsters. Increased divorce rate up to 30% in 1999, which would result in many unhappy children committing misdeeds. Juvenile delinquent group had more deficit family, poorly educated parents, poor economic conditions; did more misdeeds as compared with the student group. Students in recent years show bizarre behaviors that not have been seen 30 years ago.

Conclusion: Home education must be improved in each family in Korea, For the child having an inadequate home education and poor parents love, the country must involve their situations and give compulsory education for better home education and nurseries.
